Das Buch hat mir super gefallen wie auch schon andere geschrieben haben schafft Roth es sehr gut einem den Eindruck der damaligen Zeit zu vermitteln und die Machtlosigkeit dieser Krankheit Polio die heute in den meisten Teilen der Welt kein Problem mehr darstellt im Jahre 1944 aber noch ein gro es Problem war da es keine Medizin gab gegen ber darzustellenBesonders interessant finde ich wie er im letzten Teil die Erz hlerfigur inhaltlich zum Leben erweckt die sich anfangs im Buch nur kurz zu erkennen gibt Diese stilistische Entscheidung finde ich sehr gut gew hlt und gibt dem Buch dadurch im letzten Teil noch das Besondere EtwasAm ehesten negativ erw hnen k nnte ich dass die erste H lfte des Buches im Vergleich zum zweiten Teil f r mich etwas zu detailiert wirkt

I could not put this book down It is very realistic I even checked whether it was fact or fiction However I think the ending was too drawn out
I have read a few other books by Roth and I find his writing brilliant mesmerizing and evocative And this one although a little bit duller at times than for instance American Pastoral does have the same virtuoso merits Having said that I have a
